New Delhi, June 24 (IANS). It is a normal thing to sweat to keep the body cool in summer, but when this sweat remains accumulated in the scalp for a long time, it starts causing many problems for the hair. Many people complain of itching, dandruff and hair fall during this season. The main reason for this is that the sweat of the scalp does not dry quickly and moisture remains there. This moisture, oil and dirt together harm the scalp.
From a scientific point of view, sweat contains water along with a little salt and lactic acid. When this sweat remains on the head for a long time, the balance of the scalp gets disturbed. There are small holes in the skin of our head, which are called pores. Hair roots are attached to them. When sweat and oil together clog these pores, proper nutrition does not reach the hair. Due to this, hair becomes weak and starts breaking.
Lactic acid present in sweat weakens the outer layer of hair. Due to this the hair starts looking dry and lifeless. When this problem persists for a long time, the hair roots also become weak and hair starts falling excessively. Sometimes the problem of head odor is also seen, because sweat and bacteria together produce odor.
To avoid these problems, it is most important to keep the scalp clean and cool. Light oil massage can help with this; It increases blood circulation, due to which oxygen and nutrients reach the hair roots in a better way. The antioxidants and vitamin C present in natural oils like amla protect the scalp cells from oxidative stress and maintain the strength of the hair.
Hydration i.e. drinking enough water is also very important. Due to lack of water in the body, the scalp can also become dry and unbalanced. Therefore it is important to drink enough water every day. Water helps in removing dirt from the body and also helps in keeping the scalp clean.
Aloe vera is also very useful in this problem. It cools the scalp and balances moisture. It can be applied directly on the scalp in gel form. This reduces itching and the head feels light. It also prevents bacteria from growing.
Use of apple cider vinegar is also considered beneficial. Applying it by mixing it with water maintains the balance of the scalp and reduces excess oil. With this, the problem of dandruff can also gradually reduce.
Rose water is also a good natural remedy. It cools the head and also leaves a mild fragrance. It can be used like a spray. It helps in reducing the odor and stickiness of sweat.
Along with this, it is also important to pay attention to hair styling. Using very tight hairstyle or appliances with high heat increases the heat in the head and leads to excessive sweating. Therefore, it is better to adopt light and loose hairstyle, so that air can easily reach the scalp.
Diet also has a direct impact on the health of the scalp. Spicy food, tea, coffee and junk food increase body heat, which causes excessive sweating. Instead, eating fruits, green vegetables, nuts and seeds keeps the body cool and the scalp also healthy.
