New Delhi, April 17 (IANS). Tulsi has great importance in Hindu religion. This plant is not only associated with faith, but is also the key to health.

Everyone knows about Tulsi, but very few people know about Sweet Tulsi. In Ayurveda, sweet basil has been said to be very beneficial for diabetes patients. It is also known as sugar-free plant and stevia, consumption of which can provide many benefits.

In Ayurveda, sweet basil is considered a plant that calms bile, which has 30 times more sweetness than sugar. Even after being sweet, it does not increase the amount of sugar in the blood. It does not contain glucose or sucrose, so diabetic patients can include it in their diet in limited quantities.

Sweet basil quenches the craving for sweets and also does not harm the body. It contains very few calories. Therefore, if you feel like eating sweets, you can eat it well and it will also keep the weight balanced. Along with this, stevia leaves have a cooling effect. To soothe stomach irritation in summer, you can drink sherbet of sweet basil leaves. It balances bile and reduces stomach acid.

Anti-bacterial properties are found in Stevia, which can help protect teeth from decay and cavity. Whereas refined sugar is considered harmful for teeth. This is why stevia also helps in protecting teeth. Along with this, if there is a problem of low blood pressure in summer, then consumption of sweet basil also helps in controlling blood pressure. It helps in keeping the body cool.

Sweet basil can help improve digestion. It cools the stomach and can also provide relief in problems like constipation. The antioxidants present in it help in getting relief from skin related disorders.
