New Delhi, March 30 (IANS). As soon as the summer season arrives, both the body and mind start feeling a little tired. Especially when the temperature rises too high, problems like heat stress, dehydration and fatigue become common. Therefore, it is very important to take care of yourself in this season. Also, we should avoid doing some things, otherwise they can have a bad effect on our health.
First of all, it is very important to stay hydrated in summer. In summer, there is excessive sweating and water and minerals are quickly removed from the body. Therefore, instead of drinking water only when you feel thirsty, keep drinking water at short intervals throughout the day. Coconut water, buttermilk and fresh juice also help in providing coolness and energy to the body. Along with this, avoid excessive coffee, tea and sweet or fizzy drinks, because they make the body even hotter.
It is very important to avoid direct rays of the sun in summer. Avoid going out between 12 noon and 4 pm as this is the most dangerous time. If you must go out, wear light clothing, cover your head and face, and spend more time in the shade or in cool places. Try not to do any stressful activity like long walking or exercise during this time.
Special attention should also be paid to the safety of children and pets in this season. Never leave them alone in the car, as the temperature level in the car can increase within minutes. Apart from this, try to keep the house cool from inside also. Use fan, cooler or air conditioning.
Caution is necessary even in the kitchen in summer. Avoid cooking between 2 and 4 in the afternoon because the heat increases the most during this time. Try to eat light and cool food, like salads, fruits and soups. Also, avoid walking barefoot and protect your feet.
