New Delhi, February 22 (IANS). Physical activity has reduced a lot in today’s lifestyle, but in the name of taking care of health, the concept of ‘zero fat’ is going on all over the world and people are following it like sheep.
In the struggle to lose weight and save themselves from oil, people have almost eliminated oil or ghee from their lifestyle. The trend of ‘low-fat’ and ‘zero-fat’ products has also started in the market, but do you know how harmful the concept of ‘zero-fat’ is for the body?
According to Ayurveda, the concept of ‘zero-fat’ is not making the body healthy but making it sick. If we reduce the use of lubricants, it affects the brain and our cells. The function of fat is not only to provide energy but also to help in the formation of cells, but it is also important to note that here we are talking about good fat, which can be included in limited quantities from desi ghee, raw ghani oil (mustard, coconut or sesame), walnuts, almonds and flax seeds, avocado and olive oil, and not the oil used in samosas, pizza or processed food.
Contrary to the ‘zero-fat’ concept, it is also important to know why limited use of oil in the diet is necessary. There are many vitamins in our body which are fat soluble. In such a situation, without fat, vitamins A, G, E and K are not absorbed properly. If you do not include fat in your diet, vitamins will also be affected.
The common misconception is that fat is just for energy, but this is wrong. Good fat, omega-3 fatty acids, play an important role in the exchange of information between neurons. Lack of good fat can cause brain related disorders. Eating less fat can also cause problems like Alzheimer’s and depression.
Fat is also needed to produce the body’s two most important hormones, testosterone and estrogen. Especially if women stop taking good fats, they will have to face menstrual and reproductive problems.
