New Delhi, October 27 (IANS). The difference in salary between men and women in India has now reduced considerably. India has joined those countries of the world where this gap is the least. This information has been given in a recently released report.
According to a report, the average salary of both men and women in India is almost equal. This average salary ranges between $13,000 to $23,000, which shows that companies are now using data and unbiased methods more in setting salaries.
Deal, the company that prepared the report, analyzed information from more than one million contracts and more than 35,000 customers. This data is from 150 countries and through this an attempt was made to understand salary trends around the world.
The report said that the average salary of engineering and data professionals in India has declined by 40 percent compared to last year. The average salary of these professionals was $36,000 in 2024, which will drop to $22,000 in 2025.
“India continues to have a hybrid workforce model, with around 60 to 70 per cent of employees working full-time, while 30 to 40 per cent are working on contract or temporarily,” the report said, suggesting that companies increasingly rely on flexible work practices.
Mark Samlall, general manager of Deal’s Asia-Pacific region, said, “The narrowing of the wage gap between men and women in India is a positive sign.” This change shows that now companies are setting salaries in a fair and transparent manner and work ability is being given more importance than before.
The US, UK and Canada have the highest average salaries in the world. At the same time, people in special areas like AI, cyber security and digital marketing can get 20 to 25 percent more salary. This is because skilled professionals are less in these fields and there is no precise pattern of fixed salary.
For professionals working in technology, packages consisting of shares or stake in the company are also continuously increasing. This trend is expected to continue from 2021 to 2025, especially in emerging countries like India and Brazil. According to the report, this package is the largest in America, followed by Canada and France.
However, the wage gap between men and women in technology and product related jobs is still high across the world. At the same time, this difference is less in sales work. The highest pay gap was seen in Canada, France and America.
