New Delhi, July 1 (IANS). The Central Government has taken a big step towards economically empowering rural women. The government’s new digital platform ‘SHE-LEAPS’ (Self-Help Entrepreneurs-Livelihoods and Enterprise Application for Prosperity and Sustainability) will play an important role in achieving the target of creating 6 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ across the country. This information was given in the official fact sheet released on Wednesday.
‘SHE-Leaps’ is a digital platform designed to empower women associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs) in rural India. Through this, women will get the facility to start their own enterprise, expand it and monitor its progress digitally. This platform will also strengthen livelihood, enterprise development and financial inclusion for women.
According to the government, this platform will promote rural enterprises, both agricultural and non-agricultural. Its objective is to create a strong and sustainable economy in the villages.
According to the fact sheet, ‘SHE-Leaps’ will give a new impetus to the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ mission. Through this, end-to-end digital tracking of increase in women’s income and performance of their enterprises will be done. The government also plans to provide Rs 10 lakh crore to benefit women under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme in the next five years. The government believes that the ‘SHE-Leaps’ mobile app will play an important role in expanding women’s entrepreneurship on a large scale.
This digital platform was launched during the National Rural Development Conference held in New Delhi on June 29. The main objective of the conference was to prepare a strategy to implement the vision of ‘Developed Village-Developed India’.
According to the government, ‘SHE-Leaps’ will be implemented in 34 states and union territories of the country. This will help the State Rural Livelihood Missions of the respective States and Union Territories.
Through this platform, real-time data related to rural enterprises will be available, which will provide better information about the economic activities of the villages. This will also strengthen monitoring at various levels and help in making better policies from local to national level.
The government says that ‘SHE-Leaps’, which integrates digital technology, entrepreneurship and women empowerment, is an important initiative towards digital transformation in rural India. This will not only increase the economic participation of women, but will also become a strong basis for inclusive and sustainable rural development by expanding the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ mission to the entire country.
