But the ground reality of RIMS is completely opposite. Water has been accumulated at many places from the basement to the roof of the hospital for weeks. Dengue mosquitoes are breeding rapidly in this stagnant clean water. The most worrying situation is the basement of the hospital. An isolation ward has been made in this basement of RIMS, where very serious patients are kept and treated. On one hand, patients with weak immunity need the most protection, while on the other hand, the waterlogging around the ward and the menace of mosquitoes are making them victims of new diseases.
Lives of patients and attendants in danger
Hospitalized patients are already struggling with their illnesses, and now they have the added threat of dengue looming over them. Family members, who stay in the hospital round the clock to take care of the patients, say that whether day or night, the infestation of mosquitoes here is so high that even a healthy person falls ill. Neither fogging is being done regularly in the hospital premises nor any concrete measures are being taken to remove the accumulated water.
Amidst the increasing figures of dengue in Ranchi, this plight of RIMS is exposing the health system. The hospital which is known for saving lives, is today becoming a center of diseases due to negligence. This kind of waterlogging near the ward of serious patients shows the insensitivity of the management. And the most surprising thing is that research on malaria is being done in RIMS itself. Despite this, this kind of chaos there is beyond comprehension. Not only this, the health department team, which is going door to door to the people, is also not paying attention to the hospitals.
