New Delhi, October 23 (IANS). Pregnancy is the most beautiful moment for a woman, but along with it, women’s body faces many challenges like hormonal changes, weight gain and fatigue. The Ministry of AYUSH advises that in such a situation, regular exercise, especially yoga, can prove beneficial for both mother and child.
Yoga not only reduces pain, but also makes the delivery process easier and provides mental peace. Let us know some safe yoga asanas which can make the nine months of pregnancy comfortable.
Bhadrasana – According to the Ministry of AYUSH, this asana provides excellent physical and mental balance for pregnant women. By doing this the hips, knees and spine become stronger. Additionally, flexibility increases, which relieves back pain and joint stiffness. It also provides relief from discomforts like swelling during pregnancy and menstruation. By doing this asana daily for 5-10 minutes, the body becomes ready for delivery. Just take it easy and take support from the cushion if needed.
Baddhakonasana – This is also called butterfly pose. The Ministry of AYUSH states that it stretches the hips and thighs and improves blood flow. This makes the delivery process easier. Digestion remains healthy and the complaint of constipation is reduced. Gets relief from problems like back pain and leg cramps. It is especially beneficial in the middle stage of pregnancy. Do this while sitting and flapping your knees like a butterfly, but this should be done only after consulting the doctor.
Balasana- Balasana is also a gentle asana. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, pregnant women can do this with caution. It reduces stress, gives relief to the lower back and strengthens the digestive system, however, keep a pillow under the knees to avoid putting pressure on the stomach. Practice yoga only under the supervision of an instructor, especially in the third trimester. This asana provides peaceful sleep and energy to the mother.
Meditation- Meditation is an integral part of yoga. The Ministry of AYUSH considers pranayam and meditation as mandatory during pregnancy. Meditating for 10-15 minutes daily relieves anxiety and depression. Baby’s brain development improves. The emotional bond between mother and child becomes stronger. Focus on breathing, bring positive thoughts, this is the essence of meditation.
Experts say that yoga during pregnancy makes the body flexible and increases immunity, but remember that consultation with a gynecologist is necessary before starting any asana. Listen to your body.
