These daily habits are slowly causing harm to the brain, know how they are spoiling your brain health.

New Delhi, March 31 (IANS). In today’s busy life, people often ignore mental health i.e. brain health. We adopt many such habits every day which seem normal, but gradually affect the functioning of our brain.

According to experts, the brain is not just the center of thinking, but it controls the functioning of the entire body. In such a situation, if its health is affected, its effect is clearly visible on our memory, attention, decision-making ability and mental balance.

According to research, the biggest problem is lack of sleep. When a person does not get enough sleep consistently, the brain does not get rest. Due to this, memory starts weakening and the ability to learn new things also gets affected. Scientists say that during sleep the brain repairs itself and organizes important information. In such a situation, lack of sleep directly weakens brain function.

Food also plays an important role in brain health. Eating too many sweets or high sugar foods can increase inflammation, which also affects the brain. Research has found that consuming too much sugar over a long period of time can have a negative impact on memory and thinking ability. Therefore, it is very important to take a balanced and nutritious diet.

Smoking is also considered extremely harmful for the brain. The toxic elements present in cigarettes reduce the supply of oxygen in the body. This has a direct impact on the brain, because the brain needs adequate oxygen to function properly. Due to continuous smoking, brain cells gradually become weak and sometimes it can also cause permanent damage.

Similarly, excessive alcohol consumption can also prove dangerous for the brain. According to doctors, drinking excessive alcohol affects the neurons of the brain. This can weaken the ability to think, understand and remember. If this habit continues for a long time, the risk of mental illnesses also increases.

Lack of physical activity is also a big reason, which people often ignore. When we sit for a long time and do not keep the body active, the blood flow to the brain reduces. Due to this, the brain does not get the necessary nutrition and oxygen, which affects its efficiency.

Constantly being under stress is also harmful for the brain. When a person remains under stress for a long time, a hormone called cortisol starts increasing in the body. This hormone affects the part of the brain that is associated with memory and learning processes. This can cause problems like mental fatigue, irritability and lack of attention.

In today’s digital era, increasing screen time has also become a big concern. Spending too much time in front of mobile, laptop and TV not only affects the eyes but also deteriorates the quality of sleep. Due to this, the mind does not get complete rest and there is difficulty in concentrating.
