This kitchen spice is a perfect combo of taste and health.

New Delhi, December 26 (IANS). Ayurveda tells that there are many spices in the Indian kitchen, the consumption of which can overcome many physical and mental problems. One such spice is nutmeg, which not only adds taste and aroma to the dishes, but is also extremely beneficial for health.

Nutmeg kept in the kitchen is effective in enhancing taste. Ayurveda gives detailed information about nutmeg, which is rich in medicinal properties. It is also used in pulses, curries, vegetables and sweets. Its unique aroma and mild sweetness enhances any dish.

Nutmeg has been used in Indian cuisine for centuries. It is often used in combination with coriander, turmeric, chilli and other spices, giving a refreshing and spicy taste to the dish. Nutmeg is also included in garam masala. Adding its powder to sweets like halwa, kheer or laddu doubles the taste.

According to experts, nutmeg is not only a taste enhancer but also a health companion. The biggest benefit of nutmeg is in sleep problems. It naturally provides mental peace and provides relief from insomnia. Drinking milk mixed with a little ground nutmeg at night helps in getting good sleep. Apart from this, nutmeg strengthens the digestive system. It provides relief from common problems like gas, indigestion, flatulence and constipation. The elements present in nutmeg activate digestive enzymes, due to which food is easily digested.

Ayurvedacharya explains that consumption of nutmeg in limited quantity is beneficial for the body. It is rich in antioxidants, which increases immunity and reduces inflammation. However, nutmeg can be harmful in large amounts, so use only a small amount daily. Pregnant women or people taking any medicines should consult a doctor.
