New Delhi, November 4 (IANS). With the arrival of winter, many people often face problems like cold, cough and allergies. Cold air, increasing humidity and smoke present in the environment affect our lungs and throat. It takes some time for the body to adjust to such weather and during this time the immune system becomes a little weak. First of all, the nose, throat and lungs are affected, hence cold and cough become common.
It is said in Ayurveda that prevention is the best medicine, that is, if we adopt some small measures before the disease occurs, then there will be no need of medicines. In such a situation, let us know some easy and effective Ayurvedic remedies which can protect the body from cold by strengthening your immunity.
First of all let’s talk about basil decoction. Tulsi has been called ‘Maha Aushadhi’ in Ayurveda because it relieves many problems of the body. Drinking a decoction made by mixing basil, ginger, black pepper and a little honey every morning or night keeps cold and cough away and keeps the throat clear.
The second recipe is a mixture of ginger and honey. The antibacterial properties present in ginger and the warm effect of honey provide instant relief to sore throat and cough. Simply mix one teaspoon ginger juice and half teaspoon honey and take it twice a day.
The third solution is turmeric milk. This is adopted in almost every house. The curcumin element present in turmeric strengthens the immune system and keeps the body warm from inside. Drinking half a teaspoon of turmeric mixed with lukewarm milk before sleeping helps in getting better sleep and also provides relief from cough and cold.
The fourth solution is lemon water. In winter, people often avoid lemon due to fear of catching cold, but drinking lemon and honey mixed in a small amount of lukewarm water provides Vitamin C to the body, which increases immunity and protects from allergies.
The fifth and very effective solution is steam inhalation. It helps a lot in removing nasal congestion, sore throat and phlegm. Add some celery or eucalyptus oil in water and take steam, this provides instant relief from shortness of breath.
