New Delhi, December 20 (IANS). The problem of cough increases during winter season. Problems like frequent phlegm accumulation, sore throat and cough become common. Ayurveda suggests some easy solutions to get rid of the problem of phlegm.

The Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India considers cough to be the root of a hundred problems. If this continues continuously then it can cause many diseases in the body. The special thing is that Ayurveda has many simple and effective home remedies to remove cough, which not only provide relief but also help in reducing the problem from its roots.

Ayurvedic experts believe that the use of medicines is the safest and most effective way to control phlegm. The first remedy is a decoction made from ginger and basil. Boil fresh ginger and basil leaves in water, filter it and drink it two-three times a day. This melts the phlegm, expels mucus and provides instant relief from sore throat.

Another traditional recipe is turmeric milk. Drinking half a teaspoon of turmeric mixed in a glass of warm milk before sleeping at night reduces phlegm. Curcumin present in turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory properties, which fights infection and increases immunity. The simplest solution is to keep drinking hot water throughout the day. Due to this, the phlegm becomes thin and comes out easily.

Triphala powder is also an excellent remedy to control cough. Take one teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water every night. It strengthens the digestive system and removes toxins from the body, thereby reducing the problem of phlegm. The combination of clove and honey also works wonders. Mix 2-3 clove buds with honey and chew or suck them. This reduces mucus and provides relief from cough. Cloves have anti-bacterial properties that relieve throat infections.
