New Delhi, February 19 (IANS). Due to today’s hectic and irregular lifestyle, many physical and mental problems surround us. Working on laptop-mobile for a long time, sitting in wrong position, less physical activity, stress and irregular eating habits have become common causing back pain, stiffness in shoulders, neck discomfort, difficulty in breathing and digestive problems.
In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India recommends the practice of ‘Uttamandukasana’ to get rid of these problems. This is an easy and effective yoga asana, which can be easily included in the daily routine.
Uttamandukasana, also known as frog pose, makes the body look like a frog. This asana makes the spine strong and flexible, which relieves back and waist pain. The muscles of the shoulders and neck are stretched, stiffness is reduced and problems like cervical spondylosis are provided relief. Not only this, it increases the capacity of the lungs, taking deep breaths relieves respiratory problems. Also, due to slight pressure on the abdominal organs, the digestive system improves, the problem of gas and indigestion reduces and the body gets energy.
According to yoga experts, to practice this asana, first sit in Vajrasana. After this, bend both the hands at the elbows and take them behind the back. Keep the spine straight, look forward and continue breathing normally. Stay in this position for 20 to 30 seconds, then slowly return to normal position. In the beginning this should be done 2 to 3 times, then gradually increase the time.
In today’s irregular lifestyle where people remain in the same posture for hours, this asana heals the muscles, increases blood circulation and reduces stress. The Ministry of AYUSH recommends it for regular practice.
The Ministry believes that Yogasana is not just an exercise but an art of balanced life. However, people with knee, ankle or severe back problems should consult a doctor or yoga expert. Pregnant women must consult an expert before practicing.
