New Delhi, April 22 (IANS). In today’s busy routine, people are playing with their health in the name of taste. People are getting attracted towards junk food and packed food, which is harmful for health. In view of this addiction, the Ministry of Women and Child Development issued an important advisory.
The ministry, through its social media platform X, warned people about how everyday eating habits are leading us towards serious diseases.
According to the video released by the ministry, junk food contains very high amounts of oil, sugar and salt, while the nutrients essential for the body are almost non-existent. The video explains what should be the daily limit of sugar, salt and oil for a healthy adult.
Your daily diet should include 5 grams of salt, 20-25 grams of sugar and 25-30 grams of oil in your daily diet.
The ministry gave special information on the health of infants. The guidelines state that children below two years of age should not consume salt and sugar at all in their food. At the same time, foods like chips, biscuits, cold drinks, pizza and burgers are becoming the main cause of obesity and diabetes in children. Instead of junk food, children should be given nutritious and tasty home-made options like fresh seasonal fruits and dry fruits, roasted gram, peanuts or puffed rice, homemade lassi, lemonade or ragi laddus.
The ministry also suggested some easy and beneficial measures to stay healthy. He said, “The fruits and vegetables available in the market around us are the freshest and most nutritious. Every season has its own special vegetables. It is very beneficial to include them in your diet. The more colorful vegetables there are in the plate, the more variety of nutrients the body will get.”
Eat fruits directly instead of extracting fruit juice. This provides the body with plenty of fiber and the stomach also remains full for a long time. Don’t depend only on wheat and rice. Include millets, ragi and other coarse grains (millets) in your diet.
Some kitchen related precautions should also be taken in the video. Repeated use of oil is harmful for health. Also, before cooking pulses and grains, they should be soaked in water, so that their nutrients can be available to the body in a better way.
