New Delhi, December 11 (IANS). It is very important to take special care of skin and hair during the winter season. Often people think that hair fall is only an effect of weather and ignore it, but in reality there are many reasons hidden behind it.
Both Ayurveda and modern science believe that cold weather has a direct impact on our hair, sometimes drying out the scalp, and sometimes increasing the lack of nutrition.
If the cause is identified at the right time, hair fall can be easily controlled.
The humidity in the winter air reduces, due to which the scalp, like the body, also starts becoming dry. When the scalp becomes dry, dandruff starts forming on it.
According to Ayurveda, this is a sign of aggravated Vata dosha, while science says that dryness weakens the natural layer of the scalp and leads to the formation of dandruff. Dandruff weakens the roots and due to this, hair starts falling excessively. Mild itching, white flakes and hair breakage are all signs that the scalp needs moisture. In such a situation, massage with lukewarm oil is beneficial.
Many people are troubled by dryness of hair in this season and start applying more oil. But, both Ayurveda and dermatology say that giving excessive oil to the scalp can have the opposite effect. When too much oil accumulates on the scalp, fungus can grow rapidly, which causes dandruff. Due to this, hair starts falling even more. Therefore, apply the oil in the right way and in the right quantity. Also, apply the oil just before shampooing, so that the scalp gets nourishment, but it does not become heavy.
Warm winter clothes sometimes unknowingly become the enemy of hair. Wool or rough caps rub the hair, causing it to become weak and prone to breakage. Sleeping with your head covered in a quilt at night also causes hair tangling and moisture loss. Therefore, if you must wear a cap, wear a soft cloth cap and use a satin or silk cover at night. This keeps the hair safe and reduces the problem of breakage.
