Why is drumstick so special? Know the uses and benefits from Ayurveda

New Delhi, December 8 (IANS). Drumstick (Moringa) is used in vegetables, pulses and medicines. It is called a body cleanser and natural multivitamin, because it contains more than 90 nutrients and more than 40 medicinal properties.

Every part of drumstick is rich in nutrients like Vitamin A, C, E, protein, calcium, potassium, iron, quercetin, chlorogenic acid and omega-3. Its leaves cleanse the toxins of kidney and liver and are helpful in problems like fatty liver and UTI.

It also works wonders in sugar control because the glycemic index of its leaves is low and it increases insulin sensitivity. Taking half a teaspoon of powder daily with lukewarm water keeps the sugar level stable.

Drumstick is a storehouse of Vitamin C, which increases immunity in winter. Keeps the body warm and protects from cold and cough. The anti-inflammatory properties present in its seeds and leaves control blood pressure and bad cholesterol and help in cleaning the arteries. It is also a boon for bones and joints. It contains adequate amounts of calcium, iron and vitamins, which strengthen the bones. Knee pain is reduced and fracture recovery is faster.

Drumstick also works wonders in swelling and pain. Its anti-inflammatory compounds provide relief from arthritis, gout or muscle stiffness without any side effects. Omega-3 and Vitamin-E increase brain power, reduce stress and sharpen memory. Its seed oil is also excellent for skin and hair. It makes the skin glowing. Reduces acne and strengthens hair.

There are many easy ways to eat drumstick. You can take leaf powder, pod vegetable, soup, seed water or drumstick tea on an empty stomach in the morning. It helps in sugar control, stomach cleansing, weight loss, reducing blood pressure and swelling.
