World Bicycle Day: Cheap and effective way to stay fit, cycling is beneficial for every age.

New Delhi, June 3 (IANS). In today’s fast paced and busy life, cycling is the cheapest and healthiest way to travel without worrying about petrol and diesel. Bicycle not only makes traveling easier but also plays an important role in keeping both body and mind fit. Health experts consider bicycle as a true companion of health.

World Bicycle Day is celebrated every year on 3 June. In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India as well as health experts call cycling very beneficial. According to health experts, regular cycling strengthens both physical and mental health. This is an exercise that can be easily included in your daily routine.

Cycling makes the mind sharp and agile. Many studies have found that daily cycling improves memory and increases concentration. In this, endorphin hormone is released in the body, which is called hormone of happiness. This relieves problems like stress, anxiety and depression.

This is a light exercise, so there is not much pressure on the knees and joints. Even people suffering from chronic pain can do it easily. Cycling in the fresh air increases creative thinking and gives new energy to the mind. Cycling proves to be very useful for people who suffer from insomnia. Regular cycling leads to deep and restful sleep at night. It is also effective in reducing weight. Half an hour of moderate speed cycling can burn 200 to 300 calories, which keeps obesity under control.

Apart from this, cycling strengthens the heart, controls blood sugar, reduces the risk of diabetes and increases the body’s immunity. In view of the increasing traffic jams and pollution in cities, cycling also helps in saving the environment.

However, some precautions are also necessary. Cycling is safe for most people, but caution should be taken in certain situations. Patients with severe heart disease, people who have recently undergone surgery, problems with dizziness, severe arthritis or swollen joints should consult a doctor. Pregnant women should not do cycling without medical advice.
