New Delhi. The process of technical disturbances in Air India aircraft did not stop. The latest incident occurred in the UK’s Birmingham flight from Amritsar from Amritsar. Air India has reported that its flight number AI-117 from Amritsar left Amritsar on October 4. The aircraft was 787 Dreamliner of Boeing. While leaving from Amritsar to Birmingham, all the electrical and hydraulic systems of the Air India aircraft were doing the right job, but while landing on Birmingham, the aircraft’s RAM air turbine ie RAT suddenly came out.
This type of RAM is installed in the back of the aircraft.
According to Air India, this flight from Amritsar to Birmingham was safe landing and all the passengers and crew members of the aircraft are safe. According to Air India, it has sent the aircraft for technical examination. RAM helps to supply electricity to essential instruments during emergency in air turbine aircraft. The RAM comes out of the back of the air turbine aircraft in case both engines of the aircraft fail. It contains fans, which rotate rapidly due to air. This provides electricity to the essential instruments of the aircraft. So that the pilot can take off the aircraft safely.
The question is, why did the RAM air turbine come out despite everything being cured in Air India aircraft? Let me tell you that a Dreamliner aircraft of Air India was victim of an accident on 12 June 2025 after flying from Ahmedabad to Gatvik Airport in London. Only one passenger aboard the aircraft was saved. Initial investigations revealed that the switch supplying fuel to the engine of the aircraft was closed. The investigation by the cockpit voice recorder revealed that the captain of the Air India aircraft asked the pilot why he closed the switch? On this, the pilot had said that he did not close the switch.
