New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects costing more than Rs 9,000 crore on his Northeast visit to Mizoram. During this, Modi inaugurated the Bairabi-Gaireng new railway line costing more than Rs 8,070 crore. In this way, Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, joined the Indian Railway Network for the first time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, today, Mizoram is playing an important role in India’s development journey. This is a historic day not only for the nation, but especially for the people of Mizoram. From today, Aizawl will proudly make its place on India’s railway map.

Modi said, our government is committed to the welfare of every citizen, every family and each region. Empowerment of people will create a developed India. I am confident that the people of Mizoram will play a very important role in this journey. The Prime Minister said, “Our Act East Policy and Emerging North-Economic Corridor, Mizoram plays an important role in both. With projects such as Kaladan Multimodal Transport Project, Mizoram will soon be directly connected to the Bay of Bengal via South-East Asia. This better connectivity will promote trade and tourism not only in the northeast, but also with South-East Asia. India is also becoming a global center of sports, which in turn is accelerating the development of the sports economy. Mizoram has given many champion players and continues to nurture sports talents, especially with its rich tradition in sports, especially in football. Our sports policies are made for the benefit of states like Mizoram.

Bairabi-Airang new railway line specialty

This railway line project, built in a challenging hill region, has 45 tunnels under complex geopolitated conditions. Additionally, it also includes 55 large bridges and 88 small bridges. The PM said, despite many challenges including inaccessible terrain, the Bairabi-Giranrang rail line has now become a reality, which is a proof of the collective will of perseverance, determination and progress.
