The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Al-Falah University Chairman Javed Ahmed Siddiqui. This arrest has been made in connection with fraud and various financial and administrative irregularities in the university. Police officials said on Wednesday that Siddiqui has been taken on police remand for 4 days after being produced in the court.

On what charges has this action been taken?
This entire action has been taken on the basis of complaints lodged by the University Grants Commission (UGC). UGC had filed two separate FIRs against the university administration. Investigation revealed that the university had made several false claims regarding its affiliation and operations.
The university had falsely claimed to have received accreditation from NAAC. The records were falsified through fake documents. The website was shut down in November 2025 when the fraud came to light.
Terrorist connection and ED investigation
Javed Ahmed Siddiqui and the university administration have been accused of not only fraud but also more serious allegations. During the investigation by security agencies, links to the car blast that took place near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025 were found to be linked to the university. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating money laundering and terror funding in this case.
Investigation revealed that the accused involved in the Red Fort blast, Dr. Umar Nabi, was working in the university. Apart from this, other suspects like Dr. Muzammil Shakeel were also associated with the institute, who are considered to be part of the ‘white-collar’ terror network. ED has already filed a chargesheet against Siddiqui and seized the properties of the university.
