New Delhi. The winter session of Parliament is going on. Meanwhile, on Thursday, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur made a big allegation in the Lok Sabha. Anurag Thakur asked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla whether he has given permission to smoke cigarettes in the House? When the Lok Sabha Speaker denied any such approval, BJP MP Anurag Thakur said that e-cigarettes are banned in the country, but Trinamool Congress MPs in the Lok Sabha are smoking e-cigarettes.

When Anurag Thakur said that TMC MPs were smoking e-cigarettes in the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that if you have any such objection, then you should complain in writing. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that upon receiving the complaint, he will take strict action against the concerned MPs. Om Birla said that no MP has been given permission to use e-cigarette or any such product in Parliament. He said that the rules apply equally to everyone. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that no formal complaint has been received yet. If evidence is found, strict action will be taken after investigation.
Anurag Thakur has not taken the name of any MP while complaining. It is being told that TMC MPs were seen smoking e-cigarettes in different parts of Parliament for the last few days. Let us tell you that in the year 2019, the Central Government had banned e-cigarettes across the country. For this, the government had also made a law called Prohibition Act. E-cigarettes were considered illegal under this. In such a situation, the question is that despite the ban, where did the TMC MPs get e-cigarettes and the liquid used to make its vapor?
If Anurag Thakur’s allegations are true, then this is a very serious matter. No MP has ever been seen smoking a cigarette in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. TMC has 29 MPs in the Lok Sabha. There is a lot of tension between TMC and BJP. In such a situation, there may be a conflict between the two parties on the issue of smoking e-cigarettes in Parliament. At the same time, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha has said that if evidence is found, then strict action will be taken against the MPs accused of smoking cigarettes in the Parliament and the House. Overall, this issue can heat up the politics of West Bengal as well as the country.
