The battle of Artificial Intelligence in India has now reached a new turn. Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance has officially joined hands with Meta (parent company of Facebook). Together, they will form a new company — Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL) — which will provide AI services and indigenous AI platforms for India.
This partnership is being considered big because for the first time an Indian giant is going to create AI infrastructure, models and services in India to compete with the world’s biggest tech players.
💰 How much money did it cost? Who shares how much? – The statistics are shocking
In this joint venture:
Partner stake Initial investment Reliance Intelligence 70% ₹2 crore as initial capital (total plan ₹855 crore) Meta (Facebook Overseas) 30% share of total investment
A total of ₹855 crore (about $100 million) has been pumped into the initial phase.
🌐 Now “indigenous AI tools” will be made in India, dependence on foreign tech will reduce.
Reliance and Meta will together use Llama (Meta’s open-source AI model) to create AI tools that:
Will automate business, banking and government systems
Will provide AI assistants and agents to companies
Data will be hosted in India only – so that security and privacy are maintained (Data Sovereignty)
Meaning – India’s data, in India… and AI also belongs to India!
⚙️ Ambani’s AI preparation – from data center to local talent
