The US has announced that now interview appointments for non-resident visa (NIV) can now be booked only on the basis of citizenship or legal residence of their country. This means that the citizens of India will no longer be able to get a quick visa appointment in another country.
What has happened
This change will be applicable to all NIV categories including B1 (Business) and B2 (Tourism) Visa.
During the Kovid-19 epidemic, Indian applicants used the option to book appointments in Europe, Asia and Middle East due to a long waiting period (sometimes up to 3 years). Now that facility will not be there.
Students Visa (F-1), Visitor Visa (B1/B2) and some work visa will also apply new rules for renovation.
This change for tourism and business trips will make it difficult to plan. Now applicants will have to prepare in advance keeping in mind the long waiting period in the country.
Effect:
Tourism: Travel plans may have to change or choose countries where the visa process is simple.
Business Yatras: Last time passengers will be difficult, so it is necessary to plan in advance.
Summary:
Now Indian citizens will always have to book a visa appointment in India to go to America, and the option to take an early appointment abroad is over.
