Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he said that the trade talks between India and the US would help in “opening unlimited possibilities”. Kejriwal said that cotton farmers from across the country are being put at stake to “please Trump”.

Prime Minister Modi’s remarks came after US President Donald Trump called upon the “trade obstacles” between the two countries to remove the “trade obstacles”. Questioning the nature of the ongoing conversation between India and America in a post shared on Ax, Kejriwal wrote, “What is the conversation between the two countries? Only one -sided conversation is going on? If the whole Indian market came under the control of Americans, where will our people go? “.

He further said that such comments are similar to “surrender” in front of America. Kejriwal said, “Such surrender in front of Trump is not only fatal to the Indian economy, but also an insult to 1.4 billion Indians.” Kejriwal urged the Prime Minister not to weaken and protect the nation’s honor.

Kejriwal’s remarks came amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Wednesday X post, in which he described New Delhi and Washington as “natural partners” and said that he had full confidence in the progress of talks. The Prime Minister also expressed his desire to talk to Trump.

“India and America are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our business talks will pave the way to highlight the immense possibilities of Indo-US partnership. Our teams are working to complete these discussions as soon as possible. I am also eager to talk to President Trump. We will work together to ensure a bright and rich future for people of both countries.

This came on Tuesday (local time) after a statement made by Trump via Truth Social, in which he expressed enthusiasm over the ongoing negotiations between the two countries to deal with the business obstacles. He also expressed confidence to reach a “successful conclusion” and hoped to talk to Prime Minister Modi in the coming weeks.

Trump said in his post, “I am happy to declare that India and the United States continue to talk to remove trade obstacles between the two countries. I am eager to talk to my very good friends, Prime Minister Modi in the coming weeks. I am confident that there will be no difficulty in reaching a successful conclusion for both our great countries!”

Trump’s remarks came at a time when he described the Indo-US relations as “very special relations” and said that he and Prime Minister Modi will always be friends. He said that “there is nothing to worry about.”

New Delhi is facing global uncertainties due to increased economic stress after the US imposed 50 percent of tariffs on Indian imports, including an additional 25 percent tariffs due to the purchase of Russian crude oil, which, according to Washington, promotes Moscow’s efforts in conflict with Ukraine.
