The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar on Tuesday presented a Rs 3.47 lakh crore budget in the state assembly and claimed its focus is on “knowledge, science, aspiration”.
Presenting the budget, state Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav also praised the “visionary” role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in shaping a “developed Bihar”.
Yadav said this year’s budget is a significant increase from Rs 3.17 lakh crore for 2025-26, and the state government expects its tax revenue to be around Rs 65,800 crore in 2026-27.
He said that in line with the motto of the state government “Development with Justice”, an amount of Rs 7,724 crore has been allocated for social welfare schemes.
He further said, “The budget has been prepared with a focus on Iman, Gyan, Vigyan, Armaan and Samman (faith, knowledge, science and respect).”
Yadav also mentioned the much-talked about Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, launched ahead of the assembly elections in November last year, which is said to have ensured a decisive victory in favor of the ruling NDA.
“An amount of Rs 10,000 has been transferred to the accounts of 15 lakh crore women. Soon, an additional Rs 2 lakh will be given to those women who have used this amount to set up businesses,” the minister said.
