Patna. There are 38 districts in Bihar. Of these, 1300 km long roads of 25 districts were measured by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi along with Tejashwi Yadav under the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’. During this visit, Tejashwi Yadav was also seen at many places on the driving seat of Rahul Gandhi’s car. Rahul and Tejashwi also took out a bike rally during their visit. Through his visit, Rahul Gandhi tried to make the allegations of vote theft a big issue, but the voters of Bihar did not believe his allegation.
Shortly after the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections began, it came to light that Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft had no impact on the voters. Whereas, much before the announcement of Bihar Assembly election dates, Rahul Gandhi had started making allegations of vote theft. Before Bihar elections, Rahul Gandhi had targeted BJP and Election Commission by alleging vote theft in Karnataka and Maharashtra. At the same time, just before voting in Bihar, he alleged vote theft in Haryana. At one time it seemed that Rahul and Tejashwi’s visit by alleging vote theft might have an impact in Bihar, but the public could not digest their allegations.
Actually, Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of vote theft, but all the evidence he gave in support of his allegation was proved wrong. Many voters from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Haryana came forward in the media and said that the Congress leader had taken their name wrongly. Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi was asked by the Election Commission to give an affidavit every time. Due to which Rahul Gandhi kept avoiding. Rahul Gandhi argued that as an MP he has taken oath in Parliament and is making allegations publicly. Whereas, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar held a press conference with fellow election commissioners and termed all the allegations as false and said that if Rahul Gandhi does not submit the affidavit within 7 days, he will have to apologize.
