Case filed against contractor on the death of nine laborers due to falling building under construction in Chennai

A case has been registered against the contractor against the contractor in the case of the death of nine migrant laborers on 30 September due to the collapse of an under -construction building of Annor Thermal Power Plant.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has expressed grief over the incident. Nine deceased were residents of Assam.

Hospital officials said that several other seriously injured were being treated in depth.Dr. J., Secretary, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Radhakrishnan and TANGEDCO president visited Stanley Government Hospital to meet the workers injured by the structure collapse at the construction site of the North Chennai Thermal Power Station.

The Chief Minister ordered Electricity Minister SS Shivshankar and Senior IAS officer and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) Chairman K. Radhakrishnan to monitor immediate relief work at the accident site. Police sources said that the officers have reached the spot.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is unhappy with the accident and announced a compensation of two lakh rupees for the families of the deceased. PM Modi said, I am saddened by the accident caused by the collapse of a building in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. My condolences in this difficult time are with the affected people and their families. I pray for the injured to recover early. The Prime Minister’s Office wrote on X, “The nearest family of each deceased will be given a compensation of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). The injured will be given Rs 50,000. Earlier, Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed grief over the death of nine people and expressed condolences.

The Chief Minister said in a post on social media on Tuesday, I am sad to hear that nine workers of Assam lost their lives in the accident during the construction work done by BHEL in Annor. I express condolences to the families of the dead. Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of each deceased and ordered that necessary steps should be taken to take the body to their home state. Kelvaperunthgai, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, expressed grief over the death of nine people.
