Chhattisgarh: Three Maoists killed in an encounter with security forces in Kanker district

Three Maoists, including a woman Maoist, were killed in an encounter with security forces on Sunday in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. According to the police, an encounter started in the wild hill area of ​​Chhindkhad village under Kanker Police Station area when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Kanker and Gariaband started searching together with Border Security Force (BSF).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kanker, IK Alesela said that two men Maoists and a female Maoist were killed during the encounter. The slain Maoists also include a prize criminal of Rs 14 lakh.

The SSP said, “After the encounter, security personnel searched the spot and recovered the bodies of three Maoists as well as a SLR, a .303 rifle, a 12-bore gun and other materials related to Maoism.”

This campaign is part of the faster in the anti-extremism measures in Bastar division, where security forces are constantly taking action against the Maoists. In recent months, many high-profile Maoists have been killed, which has weakened the organizational structure of Naxalites.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had praised security forces for winning a major victory against Naxalites in Narayanpur on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.
