In the rape case that shook Uttar Pradesh in 2016, the POCSO court has convicted 5 accused. A mother and daughter were gang-raped on NH91 in the district. This heinous incident shocked everyone. On July 28, 2016, the mother and daughter were held hostage and gang-raped on NH91.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered this case in compliance with the order of Allahabad High Court dated 12.08.2016, whereby the investigation of FIR No. 838/2016 of Kotwali Dehat Police Station, Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh was transferred to CBI, the investigating agency said in a statement.
The case pertains to heinous incidents of rape, robbery, illegal imprisonment and sexual assault of a child. According to the allegations, a group of 5-6 armed assailants forcibly abducted six members of a family at gunpoint, looted cash and jewelery and later held them hostage in nearby fields. The CBI said that during captivity, the accused raped and sexually assaulted both the victims.
After completion of the investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet against the three accused on 5 November 2016 in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (POCSO Cases), Bulandshahr.
Subsequently, supplementary charge sheet was filed against three additional accused on 18.04.2018. The statement further said that during the trial, one of the accused died in judicial custody. CBI informed that after the completion of the trial, the court has found the accused guilty and the sentencing will be on 22.12.2025.
