The death toll in the factory fire in Faridabad’s Mujesar area has increased to 39, with two more people, including the factory owner’s son, succumbing to their injuries.
Police said that Abhishek Monga (37), son of factory owner Vijay Monga, and Pradeep Kumar (21), a factory worker and resident of Sanjay Colony, died during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Thursday night.
Both were burnt to the extent of 50 per cent in the fire that broke out in the workshop of Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel Company on Monday. The fire started when a drum filled with chemicals was struck by a spark, causing a series of explosions.
Police said that Abhishek had gone inside the factory to save his father when he got injured.
A case has been registered against Vijay Monga in connection with this incident. He was also injured in the fire and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Delhi.
Police said that on the orders of the District Deputy Commissioner, a seven-member team has been formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Badkal to investigate the case.
A senior police officer said that the injured are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
Two of the fire fighters, Ranveer and Bhavichand, are in critical condition. The officer said that he has suffered more than 50 percent burns and is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital.
