New Delhi. The Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi has reserved its verdict on a petition seeking to register an FIR against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. The case is related to Sonia Gandhi’s inclusion of Indian citizenship and her name in the voter list. The petition filed on behalf of advocate Vikas Tripathi states that Sonia Gandhi’s name was lodged in the voter list before acquiring Indian citizenship. It is alleged that Sonia Gandhi added her name to the 1980 voter list while she got Indian citizenship after three years.
According to the news of Live Law, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vaibhav Chaurasia of Rouse Avenue Court reserved the verdict after hearing a petition filed by Vikas Tripathi. On behalf of the petitioner, senior advocate Pawan Narang argued that to become a voter, it is definitely verified that the person is a citizen of India. It is also necessary to show the certificate of residence after Indian citizenship. At that time there was no pan or base, there was a passport or ration card.
The petitioner’s counsel said that in the first year 1980, Sonia Gandhi’s name was added to the voter list, but in 1982, Sonia Gandhi’s name was removed from the voter list in 1982. He said that at that time the Election Commission had removed only two names. One of Sanjay Gandhi who died in 1981 and the other is the other of Sonia Gandhi, after all, why was the name of Sonia Gandhi removed from the voter list? Perhaps the Election Commission realized that some false documents were made to get the name added. On this basis, the petitioner has demanded to register an FIR against Sonia Gandhi.
