A big gift has been announced in the Union Budget for the women and girl students of the capital Delhi. The biggest challenge for women coming to Delhi from every corner of the country for education and employment is to find safe and affordable accommodation. To eliminate this problem from its roots, the government has announced to build new hostels in every district of Delhi. This step is going to provide great relief not only to working women but also to girl students pursuing higher education.

Under this new initiative of the government, special hostels for women will be constructed in all the districts of Delhi. Its direct benefit will be given to those women who are working or studying in Delhi while staying away from their families. It is often seen that even after getting a good job or admission in a good college, girls often have to step back due to housing problems or are forced to live in unsafe places. With hostels in every district, they will be able to find safe accommodation near their workplace or college.
The problem of expensive PG and rented houses will end, affordable and safe facilities will be available in government hostels.
The rising rent of private PG (Paying Guest) and rented houses has always been a big issue in Delhi. Private PG owners often charge arbitrary rent and cater only to the poor in the name of amenities. Apart from this, there is always fear in the minds of parents regarding safety. These new hostels announced by the government will be completely safe and their rent will also be much lower and affordable as compared to private PGs. This will reduce the financial burden on girl students and working women to a great extent.
With financial savings, daughters will be able to focus better on career and studies, parents’ security concerns will also be removed.
By getting affordable housing, the money which was spent on rent, will now be used by girl students for their studies and working women for their other needs. This step is being considered an important effort towards women empowerment. When housing is safe and affordable, more women will be encouraged to join the workforce. At the same time, parents living in other cities will also not hesitate in sending their daughters to Delhi, because they will be assured of strong security arrangements in the government hostels.
