Recently, South Asia expert Michael Kugelman said that India has a very deep relationship with Saudi Arabia over the defense agreement between Saudi and Pakistan. The expert said that this defense agreement is important and “game changer”, but at the same time he also said that Saudi will not allow it to be an obstacle in its relations with India.
Actually, Kugelman’s gesture was on the side which has been a defense agreement between Saudi and Pakistan. According to this agreement, an attack on a country would be considered an attack on both countries. Kugelman said that “due to security concerns and prior experiences, this is a mutual defense treaty between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan… Saudi Arabia has a strong relationship with India. The treaty will not be a hindrance in Saudi-India relations.”
