Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the flight coming from Dubai to Ahmedabad has landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. With the landing of this flight on March 5, 2026, those passengers who were stranded there due to the ongoing conflict for the last few days heaved a sigh of relief. Due to the increasing dispute between America, Israel and Iran, many international flights have been affected, but now people are slowly being brought back through special planes.

Airlines and new rules for flying

In view of the ongoing tension in the airspace, aviation companies have made changes in their services. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, many important steps have been taken and air routes have been changed.

Emirates: Regular flights of this airline will remain suspended till 11:59 pm on March 7 and only special flights with confirmed bookings will operate.
Etihad: Etihad’s commercial services have been limited and repatriation flights are operating only when permitted.
DGCA (India): The Indian regulator has directed that flights should be operated only over safe routes such as Oman and Saudi Arabia.
EASA: The European agency has extended the advice to avoid the airspace of countries like Iran, Iraq and UAE till March 6.

Important information for stranded passengers

The Indian Embassy and airlines are working together to help passengers affected by the war. According to UAE Minister Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, so far more than 17,500 passengers have been sent to their destinations through special flights.

Airline Refund and Rebooking Policy Gulf Air and Etihad tickets issued on or before 28 February can be rebooked free of charge from 18 to 31 March 2026. SpiceJet airline is operating special relief services to bring back the stranded citizens.

Along with Ahmedabad, special flights have also been operated for Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. Passengers have informed that Dubai government and local administration are taking full care of the safety and convenience of the stranded Indians. In this time of crisis, the stranded people are being evacuated on priority basis.
