New Delhi. After Bihar, now the voting list special intensive revision (SIR) can be started across the country. The Election Commission may announce it soon and may also start a nationwide campaign in October. Aaj Tak has claimed in its report that in a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers of the States and Union Territories by the Election Commission, there has been a consensus about the SIR across the country. The Election Commission has asked all the states that whatever paperwork and other necessary preparations in this regard should be completed by the last week of September.
However, the date of starting the country -wide SIR will be decided only after the CEOs of all states submit the progress report to the Election Commission. But it is believed that before the Bihar assembly elections, a formal intense revision campaign can be formally announced across the country. The Congress and other opposition parties are already making a ruckus about the SIR in Bihar and now that the nationwide SIR campaign starts, more opposition to this is considered to be sure.
On the one hand, while the Election Commission says that the voter list will update the voter list through special intensive revision and transparency in the election process, which will further strengthen the trust of the people, on the other hand, the opposition alleges that the Election Commission is working at the behest of the central government and deliberately removing the voters in the name of SIR. The monsoon session of Parliament also fell to the SIR issue in a way. From the first day to the last day, the opposition MPs protested against the SIR, creating a barrier to the work of the House.
