New Delhi. A notice has been issued by the Election Commission to Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore. It is alleged that Prashant Kishore’s name is included in the voter lists of two states, Bihar and West Bengal. Prashant Kishore has two voter IDs as a voter of Karghar Assembly of Bihar and Bhawanipur Assembly of West Bengal. The Election Commission has sought clarification from him in this matter. Prashant Kishore has been given three days to reply. If the allegations in this case prove to be true then it may prove to be a blow for Prashant Kishore before the Bihar Assembly elections.
In the notice issued by the Election Commission, a newspaper news has been cited in which it has been told that the name of Prashant Kishore is registered as a voter in Part 367 (Middle School, Konar, North Section) under polling station number 621 in Karghar, Bihar, whose voter identity card number is IUI 3123718. Whereas he is also a voter from Bhawanipur assembly of Kolkata West Lok Sabha constituency and his EPIC number there is IUI 0686683. Under Section 17 of the Representation of the People Act 1950, no person can make Voter ID in more than one constituency, it comes under the category of crime. Under Section 31, there is a provision of one year imprisonment or fine or both in this case.
On the other hand, a clarification has been issued by Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party in this matter. It is told that when Prashant Kishore lived in West Bengal, his Voter ID card was made there and after that when he settled in Bihar, his name was registered in the voter list there. It has also been told by the party that Prashant Kishore has already applied to get his name removed from the voter list of West Bengal.
