Encounter In Bijapur, 12 Naxalites Killed: Encounter in Bijapur, 7 Naxalites killed, two DRG jawans martyred, one injured, Encounter in Bijapur, 7 Naxalites killed, 2 DRG jawans martyred, 1 injured

New Delhi. A fierce encounter took place today between security forces and Naxalites in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. In the firing from both sides, 12 Naxalites were killed while three DRG soldiers were martyred. While two others are injured, however their condition is out of danger. IG Bastar P Sundarraj has confirmed this encounter. He told that this encounter took place in West Bastar division area on Bijapur-Dantewada inter-district border. This operation was jointly carried out by DRG Dantewada-Bijapur, STF, CRPF and Cobra teams. A search operation is being conducted in the area. Earlier there was news of killing of seven Naxalites, but bodies of five more Naxalites have been recovered in the search operation.

According to the IG, the security forces team had received secret information about Naxalites hiding in the forest of Gangalur area. After this, a joint team of security forces reached the forest to arrest the Naxalites and started a search operation. As soon as the security forces reached a little deeper into the forest, the Naxalites started firing. The security forces also responded to the Naxal firing. The encounter that started in the morning continued intermittently for several hours. After the firing stopped, security forces recovered the bodies of seven Maoists and seized SLRs, .303 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition from them.

Earlier on November 19, in a fierce encounter in Andhra Pradesh, 7 Naxalites were killed, including top IED expert Metturu Jogarao alias Tech Shankar. The encounter took place in Maredumilli and GM Valasa forests of East Godavari district. At the same time, 50 Naxalites were arrested from different districts of the state. A day before this encounter, 6 Naxalites including dreaded Naxalite commander Madvi Hidma and his wife Raje were killed. There was a reward of Rs 1 crore on Madvi Hidma. After the encounter, weapons were also recovered from the incident site.
