Explosion in a car parked near Red Fort in Delhi, 3-4 vehicles catch fire, high alert

New Delhi. 8 people died and 14 others are said to be injured due to the explosion in a mortar near the Red Fort in Old Delhi. This incident happened near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station. The car in which the blast took place was parked in the parking area. Due to the blast, 3-4 cars parked nearby also caught fire. As soon as the news was received, seven fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. Efforts to control the fire are ongoing. At present the reason for the blast is not clear. Apart from Delhi Police, many senior officials along with bomb disposal squad, dog squad and forensic team are present at the spot. NIA team is also reaching the spot. High alert has been issued in entire Delhi.

All the injured have been admitted to LNJP Hospital. The condition of some injured is critical. There is a possibility that the death toll may increase. Delhi Police says that only after investigation it can be told whether this is a terrorist incident or not. Due to fear of terrorist incident, alert has been declared in the states surrounding Delhi also. Alert has been issued in Mumbai also. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was so powerful that even the doors and windows of many nearby shops were damaged. Security has been increased on the borders of Delhi.
