Eminent Hindustani classical singer Pandit Chhannulal Mishra died on Thursday morning. He was 89 years old.He had been struggling with health problems for a long time. It is being told that he was unwell for the last few days due to kidney complications. The death of Pandit Chhannulal Mishra is an irreparable damage to the music world. There is a wave of mourning in the country due to his death.

Sources in his family said that Mishra died at four in the morning. He was ill for the last several days. He lived in Mirzapur with his youngest daughter’s family.He was famous for his loud voice and Thumri singing in the field of Indian classical music.

Indian classical music legend Chhannulal Mishra was honored with Padma Vibhushan. In the past, he was also admitted to the hospital. Chhannulal Mishra had been running unwell for the last seven months, he had chronic diseases like Type-2 diabetes, high BP, osteoarthritis and benine prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), he also had acute respiratory crisis syndrome. Chhannulal Mishra is a legendary artist of Hindustani classical and semicolon.

Who was Chhannulal Mishra?

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra was born on 3 August 1936 in Hariharpur village of Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. After receiving the elementary education of music from his father Pandit Badri Prasad Mishra, he learned the idea of ​​Khayal Ghani Khan of the grocery gharana, he was the chief representative of the Banaras Gharana, where Thumri, Chaiti, Kajri and Purvang style singing have special significance. His deep, hoarse but soulful voice enchanted millions of listeners.

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra, who lives in Azamgarh, made Dharma Nagari Kashi his work place. He mastered classical music by staying here. In 2010, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan Samman, then in 2014 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to contest from Varanasi, he became a proposer. At the same time, in 2020, he was awarded the Padam Vibhushan Samman.
