Haryana Congress on Monday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government has failed to utilize development funds and a large part of the funds allocated under the district plan remained unutilized.
Congress General Secretary and MP Randeep Singh Surjewala said that about Rs 400 crore allocated for the development of Haryana has not been utilized and so far only Rs 76.33 crore, or about 19 percent, of the total allocation has been used.
He claimed that more than 80 per cent of the district scheme funds have not reached the ground level and termed it a case of administrative failure rather than procedural delay.
Sharing district-wise details, Surjewala said Rs 23.89 crore was allocated to Gurugram and Rs 15.12 crore to Jhajjar, but it was not utilized in either of the two districts.
He said that Rs 19.15 crore was allocated in Yamunanagar, of which only Rs 61,000 was utilised.
The Congress leader criticized Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, alleging that despite claims of good governance and rapid development, the government has failed to release funds for basic works.
He said development projects have stalled, infrastructure is falling into disrepair and employment opportunities are being affected due to “bad governance” and “lack of accountability”.
