Ending the deadlock over the autopsy in the suicide case of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, his family has agreed to conduct the post-mortem. A police officer gave this information on Wednesday.
Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Puran Kumar allegedly committed suicide on October 7.
The family has agreed to the post-mortem and it will be done soon at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), the official said.
A day before this, Chandigarh Police had filed a petition in the court requesting direction to the family to identify the body for postmortem.
On the police plea, the local court had issued notice to Kumar’s wife and IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer Amneet P Kumar to file their reply in person or through a lawyer by October 15, failing which the application would be decided on merits.
Kumar’s mortal remains have been kept in PGIMER.
