What are the rules for visa-free travel in Malaysia and Kazakhstan?

Malaysia and Kazakhstan have started visa-free travel facility for Indian citizens, but there are some rules:

Malaysia (until 31 December 2026): The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) must be filled online at least 3 days before travel. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel. Must have a return or onward ticket. Proof of stay (e.g. hotel booking) must be shown. There should be enough money for the trip (about $50/day or ₹40,000–₹50,000). You can stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days. Kazakhstan: Must register via QazETA app 72 hours prior to arrival. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the date of travel. If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel does the registration itself. If you are staying with a host, you will have to inform the host within 3 days. You can stay in Kazakhstan for a maximum of 42 days in 180 days. Here you can travel visa free for 14 days.

What kind of trips is this facility for?

This visa-free facility is mainly for tourism, social visits, short holidays or small business trips. If you are thinking of working, studying or staying for a long time, you will have to obtain a visa for the concerned country. Immigration officers may also refuse you entry based on your documents or intent to travel. During this period, visa facility for Indian citizens from some other countries like Iran has been suspended, while the rules have also changed in countries like Bolivia, Senegal and Ethiopia.

What is important to check before travelling?

Since travel policies change frequently, it is advised that you check the current rules by visiting the official websites of the respective countries at least 72 hours before your travel. This will save you from any last minute hassles.
