Howrah-Malda: Vande Bharat Sleeper starting from 17th January, fare of 400 km will be charged even on short distance.

A very important rule regarding fare has been implemented for the passengers planning to travel by Indian Railways’ much awaited and modern ‘Vande Bharat Sleeper Train’. According to the new standards set by the Railways, a ‘minimum distance’ limit has been set to travel in this train. Now it will be mandatory for passengers boarding this train to pay fare for at least 400 kilometers. This simply means that even if your travel distance is less than this limit, you will still have to pay for the ticket equal to 400 kilometers.

Decision taken due to premium facilities and operating cost, full fare of 400 kilometers will have to be paid even for a journey of 150 kilometers.

Vande Bharat Sleeper has been designed as a premium train service, in which passengers will get much more facilities than normal trains. Due to these modern facilities and high level of maintenance of the train, its operational cost is also high. In order to ensure that train operation remains economically viable, the minimum fare has been fixed even for short distance journeys. This rule will have the biggest impact on those passengers who want to travel short distances. For example, if a passenger travels 150 or 200 kilometres, he will have to buy a ticket at the rate of 400 kilometres, which can make short distance travel expensive.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi can show the green flag on January 17, the country’s first sleeper Vande Bharat will run on Howrah-Malda Town route.

The date of inauguration of the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train has also become almost clear now. This train is proposed to be inaugurated on January 17 and it is likely that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off. This train is coming as a big gift for the passengers of West Bengal, as it is planned to be started between Howrah and Malda Town. The aim of Railways is to provide a comfortable airplane-like experience to long distance passengers through this service at a low cost, so that people make this train their first choice for long journeys.

Special care has been taken of modern facilities and security, more than 1500 passengers will be able to travel together in the train.

Special attention has been paid to passenger facilities in this new train. Vande Bharat Sleeper will have a total of 1520 berths (seats), which include AC-1, AC-2 and AC-3 tier coaches. To improve the experience of passengers, modern sleeper berths, better lighting and ventilation system have been installed in it. Apart from this, facilities like mobile charging point, surveillance through CCTV cameras and clean toilets will be available at every seat. Provision for 152 seats in AC-1, 1240 seats in AC-2 and 960 seats in AC-3 (as per the proposed design) has been made, due to which a large number of passengers will be able to enjoy a comfortable journey.
