New Delhi. Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeo is on a four-day visit to India these days. During this time in Delhi today, India’s Foreign Minister S. Meeting with Jaishankar. The Indian Foreign Minister said that our meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur during the ASEAN Summit. At that time, we agreed that we would meet to discuss in more detail. Jaishankar said, India and Thailand have historically had close and friendly relations. We value Thailand as a long-term friend and a very important maritime neighbour. India’s Act East policy has found a complement in Thailand’s Look West policy.

BIMSTEC Summit and PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangkok

The Indian Foreign Minister said that our relations were elevated to a strategic partnership during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangkok for the BIMSTEC Summit in April 2025. Many agreements were signed in the field of handloom and handicrafts, digital technology, MSMEs. Given the rapidly changing geo-political and geo-economic environment, we believe that regular exchange of views on pressing issues is very beneficial. Indian Foreign Minister said, we have many common interests in our region. During this, S Jaishankar also raised the issue of the current situation in Myanmar with his Thai counterpart. Earlier on India-Thailand defense cooperation, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeo had said that we want to work with India on defense technology production such as armored and military vehicles.
