Indian man going to Dubai arrested at Ahmedabad airport with foreign currency

A passenger was arrested with huge amount of foreign currency during a joint operation by Ahmedabad zonal unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs Department officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. This person was trying to go to Dubai.

Arrested with ₹50.62 lakh amount

This action was taken on the basis of special intelligence information. DRI had received information that a person was trying to take away a huge amount of foreign currency from the country. DRI and Customs officials together stopped this Indian man who was going to board Indigo flight number 6E-1477 (Ahmedabad to Dubai). When examined, the man’s luggage and personal items were found to contain foreign currency with a total value of ₹50.62 lakh, which included €30,000 (Euro) and US$22,500 (Dollar).
