Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that during ‘Operation Vermillion’ there was an indication of a deep strategic partnership between China and Pakistan. He also said that China’s partnership with Pakistan has extended beyond defense supplies to intelligence and diplomatic support, creating an ‘evergreen’ alliance that aims to prevent India’s rise.
Shringla spoke on India’s foreign policy and strategic affairs during an interaction program organized by the Pune International Center (PIC). Former Indian Ambassador to China Gautam Bambawale moderated the program. He said India’s foreign policy reflects a balance between realism and idealism, guided by developmental imperatives, strategic autonomy and an inclusive global vision.
According to a release issued by the PIC, the event discussed important topics including India’s relations with China and Pakistan, the changing nature of modern warfare and the growing role of technology, drones and cyber tools in defense and diplomacy.
On questions related to the use of Chinese weapons by Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’, he described the conflict as a sign of deep strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.
