Both the leaders shared their views on the ongoing dispute in West Asia and the current situation there. Along with this, mutual relations between the two countries were also discussed. Jaishankar and Lavrov expressed their views on the deteriorating situation in West Asia since February 28. The two leaders reviewed diplomatic efforts to bring back peace in the area. Some key points were noted during the talks:

Current disputes in West Asia and efforts to restore peace. Mutual cooperation and bilateral agenda between India and Russia. Discussion on problems in the Strait of Hormuz and oil supply.

America has recently given India a 30-day exemption to buy Russian oil. This rule will help in preventing oil shortage in India. Both ministers also assessed the situation on this subject and agreed to continue diplomatic talks.

What will be the impact on Indians living in Gulf countries?

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has made it clear that their biggest priority is the safety of about 1 crore Indians working in Gulf countries. In the current situation, the routes of flights have been changed and currently around 50 flights are running to maintain the necessary connectivity. The Civil Aviation Ministry is making full preparations to send the passengers safely to their homes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also emphasized on the India First policy in this matter. This means that the energy needs of the country and the well-being of Indians living abroad come first. The Indian government is continuously saying that this tension can be reduced only through dialogue and diplomacy.
