The encounter between security forces and militants in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir continued for the second day on Tuesday. An official said here, “The campaign against the terrorists in Kulgam started again this morning after the firing stopped for a while at night.”
The search operation is still going on. An official said, “Operation against militants in Kulgam resumed this morning. In this horrific encounter going on since Monday, 2 militants, one of which is being considered a Pakistani citizen and 2 soldiers have been martyred. Major of an army has also been injured in the operation.
The encounter began when the security forces started a search operation based on the intelligence of the presence of terrorists in the Ghadar Jungle area of Kulgam. During this search operation, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces.
During the operation, two soldiers, who were identified as Sub Parbhat Gaur and Lance Nayak Narendra Sindhu and an army major were injured. Officials said that Gaur and Sindhu died while the condition of the officer is said to be stable. The army’s Kashmir -based Chinar Corps tweeted, “We pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed the highest sacrifices, all Parbhat Gaur and Lance Narendra Sindhu, who served for the nation, his courage and dedication will always inspire us.”
Previously, on the basis of intelligence received from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, CRPF and police started a joint search operation in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam. Vigilant soldiers saw suspicious activity and faced firing when they challenged the terrorists.
