Showing vigilance, the Customs Department has caught an Indian passenger at Kuwait International Airport. This passenger had landed at Terminal 4 (T4) from the flight coming from Delhi. During routine checking at the airport, officials recovered 13 kg of chewing tobacco from it. After this incident, security checks at the airport have been made more stringent.

What information has been received about the passenger?

Investigation has revealed that the arrested person works as a transactions clearance representative (mandoub) in a private company. He had cleverly hidden this tobacco among his personal clothes and belongings. Customs officials became suspicious of the bag during scanning, after which when the bag was opened, a huge quantity of Gutkha was found in it.

What action is taken against such goods in Kuwait?

According to Kuwaiti laws, it is completely prohibited to bring chewing tobacco into the country. This is considered hazardous to health and a violation of custom rules. Officials said that the passengers and the seized luggage have been handed over to the General Department of Criminal Investigation. Now further legal process in this matter will be completed there.
