The number of people who died in an accident due to the entry of a truck in a procession of Lord Ganesha in a village in Hasan district of Karnataka has increased from eight to nine on Saturday. The police have confirmed this.
The accident took place on Friday night in Mosale Hosahali village of Arkalagudu taluk when the young Ganesh was taking out the procession.
According to the police, a motorcycle rider suddenly came in front of the truck. To avoid the accident, the driver tried to turn the truck and lost control of the vehicle.
He crowded the truck, killing four people immediately, while four others died in the hospital on Friday night.
The death toll increased to nine due to the death of another injured on Saturday.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
